OSHA and Safety
Some careers, such as those in the service industry, require less training than others. For some people, continuing education or certification isn’t an issue because they aren’t required by law to have it. However, in the world of OSHA compliance, everyone needs to be trained and seek CE courses periodically to keep their education up to part. You need to make sure that you’re able to track your employees and monitor their progress with OSHA training and CE so that you can keep your business running properly. Here are three critical things to know:
Which courses are required by state law or OSHA. Every state has different regulations, and at different points in their career people might be required to take certain courses or training programs because of the law. Know these things so that you can help people get the right courses, and not just the first training course that comes along.
When their certification expires. You should always plan classes well in advance of this date, which is why knowing it is so critical. You can take the time to plan things accordingly so that everyone can get the training that they need well in advance. You could assume that they will be responsible and keep tabs on it themselves, but you could be putting your company in jeopardy if you leave it up to them. It just makes sense to keep tabs on this.
Which OSHA CE courses they have already taken. In most cases, you are not allowed to take the same course twice and use it for credit. Therefore, you will need to make sure that people aren’t trying to take the same class just for an easy out because this can do a lot more damage than good. By tracking what they’ve taken and keeping it on hand, it’s easy to monitor.
With OSHA compliance, there is no room for second guessing or errors. You need to make sure that all of your employees are meeting the standards and that they can do what it takes to get the job done. By tracking these three simple things you will be able to have a better handle of your employees and their OSHA CE so that you can ensure that everyone keeps it safe and maintains their certification while they’re working in your company. In an ideal world, employees could manage this and take care of things on their own, but you need to keep track of these things so that you don’t put your company at risk because of their certification issues.
