Industrial careers require a lot of training and certification in order to succeed. With the recent impact that unemployment has had on the entire nation, it’s important to make sure that people talk about these issues. Everyone wants to pretend like these things don’t happen, and everyone wants to imagine that it will never happen to them. Unfortunately, as many people have discovered, it can happen to anyone and it’s definitely a serious issue to face. Once you get past the sadness and anger that you likely have toward losing a job, it’s important to get proactive in your new job search.
One of the ways that you can fight for yourself and use your skills wisely is to keep all of your training and certification current. That means taking CE courses when you need them, even if you are unemployed. An employer would much rather hire someone who took care of their own CE than someone whose training and licensing is about to expire. It just makes sense for them. They don’t have to invest in you right away, and the fact that you did take your own courses shows that you are self-motivated and able to take initiative to get things done.
Industrial jobs are very scarce right now. When you do find an opening, you’ll be competing against more people than ever in an attempt to prove that you are the best person for the job. Doing this can seem like a lot of work, but one way to get ahead is to have your CE current and keep it that way. Think that you can’t afford CE courses? Think again. You don’t have to travel or worry about paying for expensive seminars. You can utilize online CE training and industrial certification courses to get the credits that you need in a more affordable and accessible manner than you might have thought possible.
Utilize these resources. Get your CE credits and keep your industrial certification current. Never sell yourself short or spend too long dwelling on how terrible your situation is. Get out there and show the world that you’re the best person for the job by making sure that you really are. With CE courses updated, you will be much more hire-friendly than someone who is coming onto the job with a need for continuing education classes right away. It might be the last thing on your mind, but it should be among the first things that you think about when looking for work.
