In the next 15 years, the world is going to be making big changes. There are so many things that will be different, but there will always be a place for engineering jobs. In fact, experts are predicting that engineering jobs will be even more critical and desirable in the future than they are today. There are far too many variables in play to determine what the economy will actually look like in 10 to 15 years, but they can predict what the workforce will look like. It’s estimated that people will average a dozen different careers in their lifetime and there will be no more ‘going to the office’.

The internet will make working from home more efficient, and offer people the ability to work from flexible locations so that they can do right by the customer first. Everyone is going to have to be computer savvy, because those will rule the working world. Design jobs and engineering jobs are the ones that will have the most impact and growth in the future workforce. Currently, engineering jobs are still one of the most desired positions out there in spite of the economy. As things continue to progress towards the future, that need will continue to grow and probably exceed the expectations of just about everyone.

As of right now, engineering students have the utmost confidence in their job capabilities and prospects. They feel that there are plenty of contracts out there, and that they will have no trouble finding the jobs that they want and need once they have completed their education. The majority of them even think that their chances are better than double that of their classmates coming out of college with different majors. This, of course, is part speculation and part research, but it’s completely legitimate and expected, because the industry IS one of the few still growing despite the economy.

The future of engineering is very bright, and it will likely be one of the most important jobs in 15 years. There will be so many dynamic changes taking place that people will need engineers much like they need IT services today. The children who are now entering grade school and even high school can definitely count on a career in engineering when they are old enough to reach the career market. It doesn’t matter what specific designation they take or how they choose to do it, because engineering jobs seem to be the job of the future for anyone.
