Alcohol & Food Safety
In the world of service jobs, there are many training elements and things that you learn that need to be kept up to date. As the world grows and changes, regulations change too. Plus, new innovations can come about that can make your job a lot easier. All of these things lead to one significant thing that you need to know: continuing education is a must with many service careers. If you are in a service career where you know that you need continuing education credits to renew your license, take them as soon as you possibly can. There is no better way to be prepared than to get these things out of the way right away.
Some continuing education or licensing courses might not actually be available for you to take until your certification expires, so make sure that you’re aware of what these things are, as well. Take the time to figure out what the state regulates you to have in the way of continuing education, and how long you have to get that taken care of. Then, go out and sign up for courses right away so that you can get it done and over with and focus on more interesting things in your life. There is nothing better than the feeling of accomplishment that you get from completing your CE requirements early and being able to sit back and enjoy the rest of the time until renewal.
If you want to make the process even simpler for yourself, consider taking service CE courses online, including everything from responsible alcohol serving and retailing courses to food safety courses and more. Some states will not recognize this as acceptable training for your specific certification, but most of them do. Figure out whether or not you’re allowed to take these courses and then utilize them when you can. There is nothing more helpful to your CE courses for service than being able to enjoy taking the classes from the comfort of home on your schedule, not anyone else’s.
While no one can tell you which training is right for you, there are regulations regarding what you have to have. Take the time to learn those and then don’t stall about it. Go out and give continuing education everything that you have, and you won’t be sweating it when it gets down to the wire. Early is always better, because you never know what can go wrong if you wait until the last minute.

Alcohol & Food Safety
As children head back to school for the first full month, many parents are packing lunches and preparing meals for their children. Far more are enrolling children in free and reduced lunch programs or sending along lunch money because packing a lunch is just extra work that they don’t have time for. For these parents, it is their trust of the public schools and their food service training that is relied upon to keep their kids safe and well-fed. Too often, you hear horror stories about the food served in most school cafeterias. However, the majority of these stories are false or fabricated from minute occurrences that may or may not have occurred.
Generally speaking, foodservice and sanitation in schools is at its best. The servers and cooks wear hair nets and protective gloves, and do their best to keep the food hot, fresh, and plentiful for all the children that come through their kitchen every day. While you wouldn’t want bad service at a restaurant, you definitely don’t want safety regulations violated or food service guidelines ignored in a school setting. With so many mouths to feed every day (often hundreds, if not thousands), everything has to work like a well oiled machine. Food safety is job number one.
Schools are doing everything that they can to improve cafeterias and make foodservice provided in the schools more desired by students so that they aren’t losing money or wasting food. Many schools still rely on lunch counts, or a daily count that homeroom teachers take stating who packed their lunch and who will be buying, as well as what they will be buying. That way, there is no wasted food and nothing will sit out for too long uneaten.
While kids are worried about early bedtimes and new homework assignments, parents and others who are concerned can rest easy knowing that the foodservice operations at public schools are taken very seriously. Nonetheless, sanitation and food safety is a priority at all times, but especially important to think about as the new school year gets underway. For parents packing lunches, food safety is still something that needs to be monitored. Chicken and other meats don’t fare well if they sit in a locker for four hours. Parents who pack lunches don’t often think about food safety on a larger scale, but there are many items that kids eat in their sack lunches that need to be packed with caution.

Real Estate License
So many people think that they have all the time in the world to get their real estate CE courses taken. However, you shouldn’t wait until the last minute because you can run into many problems that will likely jeopardize your chances of keeping your license. For example, if you wait until the last minute, a class might not finish until after your expiration date, and then it doesn’t count. Also, you might have a conflict about a course that you took that wasn’t state-approved, again setting you back with no time left to spare. As soon as you get your real estate license, you need to figure out what CE courses you need and create a plan for getting them done as soon as you can so that you’re not cutting it down to the wire.
Real estate CE courses can be found all over the place, and every state has different regulations about what is acceptable, what isn’t, and what you need to do to meet their standards. Make sure that you learn these regulations and learn to love them, because you will be living by them for as long as you’re a real estate agent. Take the time to find approved CE courses either through traditional classroom lectures and lessons or through online training. Sometimes, employers might like in-house training if everyone needs the same type of education, so you should check to see if any training or continuing education will be provided in this manner so that you don’t waste your time taking duplicate courses.
One of the best options for real estate CE courses that will help you expedite them along is the option to take online courses. There are so many different providers and services that offer real estate CE and other licensing updates that choosing the right one is a pretty easy task. You just need to find what works for you, and make sure that it is state approved. Beyond that, there isn’t much to worry about.
Online courses will be more affordable and convenient, but they might not be for everyone. Take the time to check them out and see if they suit you. Just make sure that you get the credits now and don’t wait until the last minute. If you push it too far, you might be out of a job or facing fines for letting your license expire and then renewing it.

Real Estate License
First it was driver’s licenses for most states, if not all of them. Now, California is among the first to implement an electronic license exam system for real estate agents. There are many advantages to this system, including the ability to grant licenses on the spot and help people get out and get working much faster. The electronic system will also allow for lower administrative costs, more security, better testing practices, and much more. The Department of Real Estate (DRE) is excited for this new program and certain that it will provide exactly what the trainees need and what the state desires.
Security will be increased because test materials cannot be stolen, exams can be scrambled at any time to change them and keep people from taking answers from someone else, and the computer system will allow for capturing of identity immediately and correctly. The testing practices themselves will be improved because there will be less monitoring, more effective oversight, and scrambled testing so that no two people get the same test. The costs will be lowered because books and materials won’t need to be printed, shipped, or stored, and there won’t be as much need for people handling these materials in the first place.
First, applicants began to apply for the real estate exam and the license together in 2005. That process required a two-week waiting period to receive the license once the exam was passed. Today, people can apply for a license exam and license at once, pass the exam, and walk out with a license the very same day. Technology is doing many wonderful things for the world, and this is just a glimpse of how much easier it is making professional certification.
Right now, the system has only been implemented in Oakland and is headed to Fresno in the coming months. Eventually, the program will be in place in all five offices throughout the state of California, but it will take some time to roll out the statewide effort to improve real estate licensing. The entire process was less than six weeks for the first person to receive a license with the new system. That included sign up, testing, and license issuance, which is quite a cut from the previous testing methods. Before he even left the testing center, his information was already online stating that he was a licensed agent within the state of California. That’s what you call instant gratification.

OSHA and Safety
Many jobs require special training and education that carries on throughout the life of the career. However, none are as important as the training requirements of OSHA jobs and any position that relates to OSHA. When it comes to OSHA continuing education requirements, failing to get updated training and education doesn’t just threaten your license, it threatens your business and comes with hefty fines, which are much worse than any that the state licensing board could lay on you for letting your license expire without get CE credits.
OSHA continuing education is something that needs to be taken very seriously. Take the time to learn what regulations and credits you need to get in order to maintain your OSHA compliance or certification, and then go out and get those credits as soon as you can. Waiting until the last minute is going to practically guarantee that something will go wrong. It’s Murphy’s Law. Don’t put yourself in that position because it isn’t worth it. Instead, get your training early on and make sure that you are able to make the most of it from the start. Then you can move on with your life and stop stressing about it.
If your state regulations permit, you can even get OSHA CE credits online in some places. There are many different online training programs and courses to choose from, and each one offers the various compliance and continuing education credits that you might need. Finding the right online source for your needs might take a little digging, but it’s an investment well made when you have the convenience of getting your continuing education from home and on your own time. Make sure that you take the time to verify that online courses are a permitted type of continuing education for your OSHA CE or compliance.
Too many people used to wait until the last minute to get their continuing education requirements taken care of. Now, however, many people are wising up and getting them done much sooner. It just makes good sense to get them out of the way so that you don’t have to stress about them for the next two, three, or even four years until your license comes up for renewal. If you take the time to figure out what courses you need for OSHA CE, you will be much better able to get things out of the way and live a less stressful life because you are on top of your career and keeping your license and certification current.

OSHA and Safety
OSHA guidelines are put into place for a reason. They are there to be followed and to allow people to feel safe in their jobs, no matter how dangerous of a position they might be in. When a business is regulated by OSHA, it is required to follow all of these guidelines to the letter, but many don’t get things quite right. They get in a hurry, don’t want to spend money, or simply aren’t aware of the OSHA regulations on their job sites. This leads to danger, disaster, and often death for anyone involved in these unregulated or uninformed working environments.
Recently, there have been four deaths related to falls in the Pittsburgh, PA area. In the third week of August, when most people are enjoying the end of their summer and getting ready to send the kids back to school, four families were hit with tragedy like you could never imagine. Working in certain job industries automatically dictates that you’re going to be in more danger than others, but what are you supposed to do when that danger is further escalated by a lack of safety guidelines and adherence to OSHA regulations?
One man was working on a roof with no harness, guardrail, or safety net when he fell to his death, which is clearly against OSHA guidelines. The standards require anyone who is working in a situation where they could fall more than six feet to have fall protection of some kind. It is the responsibility of the employer to provide this equipment and keep their employees safe, but also to enforce the use of the equipment. This is clearly stated in the OSHA guidelines, but many still don’t comply. Working in the OSHA industry is all about workplace safety and wellbeing. What is the point of industry professionals doing their best to keep people safe if employers aren’t going to follow the rules?
The fall was only one of four that happened, but this incident was notable because the company had a similar citation in 2007 at the same location, for which they paid a fine. Fines, injuries, and even deaths aren’t going to stop everyone from blatantly violating OSHA guidelines to get the job done quicker, cheaper, or without as much effort as if they would take the time to employ proper safety guidelines. The companies involved in the four fall deaths in Pittsburgh this past August might pay hefty fines, but their employees paid the ultimate price.

Insurance Training
With your insurance license, you made a promise. You made a promise to the state licensing board and to yourself that you would get the required number of continuing education credits before your license came up for renewal so that you could remain licensed and continue to grow and learn in the insurance industry. Unfortunately, it’s now three weeks until your deadline and you need 20 hours of CE credits to keep your license valid. What are you going to do? With a full time job and a life it can be hard to fit this stuff in. However, there is a very easy way to get your CE credits taken care of.
Start sooner. It’s that simple. Don’t wait until the last minute. Take your insurance CE courses as soon as you can, and you’ll be able to relax at renewal time because you’ve been done for months. Never wait until the last minute because too many things can go wrong and leave you no time to fix them before your license expires. Many people think that they don’t have time to take these courses because of the traveling and actual class time. However, the online insurance CE world is quickly growing, and can offer you everything that you want and need when it comes to continuing education within the insurance industry.
Not all states allow online training to be used for insurance continuing education, so you will need to check with your licensing board to determine which types of courses are permitted and specifically what courses you need to take in order to keep your license current. If you do this as soon as you get your license or your renewal, you will be much better able to get your CE credits taken care of with plenty of time to spare. Don’t sell yourself short by waiting until the last minute. Get your insurance CE credits now and relax and enjoy the career that you have.
You need to take the time to check out all of your options when it comes to insurance CE courses. You should do everything in your power to find the perfect courses and get the education that you need quickly and efficiently. If you are able to take online courses, it can be even more efficient because you can learn everything on your own time and from your own home. No matter which way you go about it, though, it’s always better to get your insurance CE credits now rather than later.

Insurance Training
Insurance is one of the many necessary industries in the world. However, it too has become a victim of the slow economy. Over time, fewer people are buying fewer insurance policies and simply keeping what they have, making it hard for the insurance industry to make a profit. Sure, it might seem like the trillion dollar industry doesn’t exactly need a boost, but if everyone quit buying insurance that trillion dollar industry would go broke in no time at all. Fortunately, thanks to a variety of events, more people are starting to buy insurance once again, helping the industry to remain on top.
The CARS program, also referred to as ‘cash for clunkers’, has been a big part of the insurance industry boost over the past month or so. People are replacing cars that might not have been insured or that were only insured with liability coverage with cars that are brand new and need full coverage, which is allowing agencies to sell plenty of policies and keep things going even when times are supposedly tough. Health insurance isn’t selling well, and neither is life insurance, but people are spending a lot of money on auto insurance and even home insurance.
Insurance sales going up are a good sign that the economy is done with the downward spiral. Although it isn’t going to change the world drastically overnight, it can definitely be noticed that things are at least at a plateau, if not slowly growing again. It has been a rough couple of years for everyone, but now that things have stopped falling, we can pick up the pieces and put the economy back together again. The insurance industry already has a head start, thanks to people seeking cheaper insurance rates and those who are investing in new cars through the Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS).
People might still be hurting for money. Jobs might still be scarce. That doesn’t mean that the economy is still falling. It didn’t drop overnight and it’s not going to fix itself overnight, either. It will probably take 4-6 years for everything to return completely to normal within the economy, but insurance sales increasing is definitely a step in the right direction. For now, at least auto insurance agents can trust that they will have work into the future. One industry out of dozens having job security, even if it is only a tiny amount, is a great blessing to an economy that almost forgot what job security was.

Healthcare
In the healthcare professions, continuing education is a must. So many people have to get a certain amount of credits in various areas of healthcare to keep their licensing or certification. It doesn’t matter if you’re a nurse, a radiologist, or even a dentist or doctor because getting your healthcare CE requirements is critical to your job. Take the time to check out all of the different options that you have and do whatever it takes to make the most of your education. Get your CE credits NOW, not later. If you wait until the last minute, something is bound to go wrong because you will have no time to fix it.
Get your healthcare CE courses now and you can rest assured that even if something does go wrong, you have time to handle the situation and correct the issue. Plus, you won’t be stressed and racing to get your courses in before the deadline, which can cause a lot of hassle for many people. If your state allows, you can even consider online CE courses where you can learn everything that you need to know on your time, which will allow you to make the most of your career in an efficient and quick manner.
Online courses aren’t approved in all states yet, but it’s only a matter of time before they are. After all, they offer the same information in a quicker, more convenient format that allows people to learn on their own schedules and at their own pace. In today’s fast-paced society, that’s always an advantage that people need. In fact, it’s not hard to presume that many people probably would take care of their healthcare CE credits sooner if they knew that they could take them online and get them out of the way.
There is a lot to consider when it comes to healthcare CE credits, and you might feel a bit overwhelmed. However, don’t get discouraged or put it off because it seems too complicated. Just find out what you need, and go out and get it right away so that you can rest easy for the rest of the time that you’re licensed. As soon as your renewal is up, start over again by taking the new CE courses right away. It makes much more sense to get them out of the way now than to worry about squeezing them in at the last possible second.

Healthcare
The healthcare system is getting a big helping hand from the Obama administration, which is giving them $1.2 billion to improve upon and invest in electronic health records technology. This is the first of many steps that will be taken to create a network of information sharing that will cut costs and improve care for patients in the coming years. The healthcare system is one with a great variety of faults. However, it also has its own benefits and positive elements that need to be considered.
The goal is to spur the healthcare industry into taking action to do anything and everything that they can to make their businesses more efficient, cost-effective, and less hassle than they have been before. This money isn’t all there is. There is a landmark $36 billion that is tagged for use in the overhaul of the healthcare system within the United States. Half of the money is designated to create 70 technology centers that can help hospitals and medical professionals to choose the best equipment and make good use of the money that they have been given. The rest will go toward the state initiatives that are focused on creating and expanding information sharing networks within the healthcare industry.
It looks like the healthcare industry is going to be getting a makeover, but it’s not one that is going to happen overnight. There is a lot of room for improvement with this legislation, and it will likely be years until everything is looking a little more favorable for those involved. Those who invest in equipment that is approved by the legislation will even begin the process of being able to apply for reimbursement of approved purchases. From 2010 to 2015, anyone who purchases the new equipment that the industry is being encouraged to buy will be able to get reimbursement for their purchases.
These changes are definitely going to be for the better, but how long it will take to prove that, no one knows. For now, people must wait and see exactly what they have to work with so that they can make the most of the new legislation. After all, you can’t change an entire industry just by giving them new computer systems. You have to also focus on changing the ways and mindset of the medical professionals that are working within the healthcare industry. Only then will success be an option for healthcare reform and improvement. Will it work? No one knows, and only time will tell.
