What is Daycare CE?

Daycare teachers are those who care for children that are between the ages of infancy and five years old, when the children return to school (?). There are no requirements for people who work out of their home and only care for one or two children. However, there is a requirement for daycare CE when more children are involved, or when the facility is a public facility rather than someone’s private home. A high school diploma is required to become a daycare provider in most cases, simply as a way of showing proficiency in simple education. Each state’s laws are different, but many will not allow hiring of someone who hasn’t earned a high school education or GED.

Daycare CE also varies by state. There are many states that set requirements for providers to attend continuing education seminars and courses throughout their careers in order to allow them to work in child care. However, there are also many states where this isn’t regulated. That doesn’t mean that this type of education isn’t a good idea, though. Learning new things and refreshing the skills that a professional has can be an asset to any career. Having certified and updated licensure or status as a daycare provider can provide more accountability and more trusting customers. After all, these people are caring for other people’s children, so they should be at the top of their game when it comes to daycare CE.

The state and local governments are responsible for setting the standards for daycare workers in each area. However, many child care employers will actually set their standards higher than those required by the state or local government just to make sure that everyone is highly qualified and able to handle the profession as best they can. There are extensive background checks and other information sought on all people who work in the daycare industry. This often comes with daycare CE requirements and license renewal, as well, because keeping up on people’s changing lives is essential to making sure that no one has developed a criminal record or history during their employment.

For the states that don’t regulate daycare CE at all, the employers often do. This is very comforting to parents, because they want their children to be somewhere safe. When a stranger is outsourced to take care of a child, the parent wants to know that they are professionally trained and capable of doing the best job in keeping that child safe and happy. Continuing education and certification of daycare workers is the best way to show parents that the employees of a business are serious professionals, regardless of state mandates and laws.
